What a week!

Time really does fly when you only get to sleep for short periods of time and you are very preoccupied with trying to help your baby gain weight! Friday, Malakai had another weigh in at the doctor's office. He still didn't gain any weight. His new thing is projectile like vomiting after he eats. On Friday, the doctor gave us another formula to try, in hopes that he would keep this stuff down. His new formula has the proteins that are partially digested. Unfortunately, he isn't always keeping this down. On top of that, he has started throwing up breast milk. When he does throw up, it isn't everything that he eats and sometimes he will eat a little more after. Eric and I are getting both frusterated and concerned. We know that there are still many options out there for him to try and because he is still within his 10% weight loss, we have time to test things out. Tomorrow morning he has another weigh in, so we are praying that he will have at least gained something.
Other than the crazy sleep hours and throwing up, everything else is going great. I will update tomorrow after his weigh in. Please keep him in your prayers. We really don't want him to get below the 10% weight loss.
Have a great day and God Bless!

Jenn, Just wanted to let you know that I experienced the same thing with Brian. I tried to breast feed him but he wasnt getting much milk at all from me. I had a nurse coming to the house every other day helping me but he got so skinny the skin was just hanging on him. I have pictures of him like this!!! THe hospital gave me formula so finally one day I decided to give it to him and he sucked it right down so from that point on I dropped the breast feeding and only used formula. He also had projectile vomiting. Took him to the doctor and there was nothing wrong with him he just threw up alot. I had a towell on my shoulder constantly for months! He threw up all the time! So I hope that eases your mind. Could just be a Ference baby thing. As for the breast feeding, neither one of my kids could suck hard enough to get enough milk from me so I had to go to all formula. They get all the immunities from the first breast milk so I figured it was ok that I went to all formula. You have to decide what is best for your situation but I just couldnt take the weight loss anymore. He looked like one of those starving babies you see on TV! Once I started giving him all formula he gained weight and was healthy as could be, but we still dealt with the vomiting on a daily basis for several months. So good luck to you. I know what you are going through! My prayers are with you.

Love, Aunt Gale.
